A Short Interview with Roosevelt Gershman and His Manfriend, Geoff

Culver Studios — The room was loud. Filled with humans walking, talking, setting up for a FAM Session at Fullscreen. Roosevelt Gershman nee Corgi relaxes on a worn, leather couch constantly greeted by humans.  They stop to pet him. They squeak loudly when they see him. It’s towards the end of Take Your Dog To Work Day, and he seems happily exhausted.

“OMAAGGGAADD IT’S A CORGIII!”

A white labrador puppy is taken aback by this explosion. Gershman looks up and smiles as if he was greeting an old friend. “Hey, man. How ya doing? Never seen a corgi before? It’s your lucky day, then.” He nods to his right. “Hey there, sweetheart. Sure. Here’s my pawtograph.”

His manfriend, Geoff, walks from the satellite building across the parking lot. Gershman scoots over to give room for Geoff on the love seat. These two know each other well. If you’ve met Gershman thrice, he dubs you a close friend. I ask some questions about how they know each other. Gershman looks up at Geoff for guidance. “His owner introduced me to him around Thanksgiving. So, we’ve known each other for awhile. They came over to hang out with the other dogs in my apartment.”

They wrestle playfully. Gershman pants lightly as the day has taken on a toll on him. He hides it by laughing and joking. In our five minute Q&A session, I find out he’s a Pisces. He loves long walks on the beach (No, seriously. He does.) And he is grateful for new friends.

More people went up to greet him [Gershman]. More, “That’s the dog I’m definitely getting.” With the amount of attention he receives, Gershman a rare creature who doesn’t bark. Gives high fives on command. Without a lure. Without a treat. -UY
